Harry Kargman, Founder & CEO

Harry Kargman

Harry founded Kargo in 2003, and over the past decade he has grown it from a small start-up shop to the leader in mobile brand advertising. In 2015, Kargo was recognized as one of the America’s fastest growing companies by Inc. magazine.

Today, Kargo works with the world’s most prestigious media companies and brands to deliver high quality mobile brand advertising.  Kargo’s technology and ad experiences are integrated into the sites and apps of more than 300 of the largest publishers, and its technology powers the campaigns of more than 200 of the most influential brands. 

Harry’s experience building Kargo from the ground up gives him a deep understanding of the latest trends, consumer behavior, and the broader forces reshaping the media and advertising landscape. He holds over fifty patents related to Kargo’s technology and continues to drive the company to innovate around mobile advertising solutions, data products and programmatic technology. Harry is a frequent speaker at advertising and technology conferences including CES, IAB and Advertising Week, and has been featured in The New York Times, The Today Show, Advertising Age, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and dozens of other media outlets.

Harry graduated with honors from Harvard University where he is now an advisor to young entrepreneurs through the Harvard Innovation Lab.  He lives in New York City with his wife and three children.

Ryan McConville, President & Chief Operating Officer

Ryan McConville

Ryan is a results-driven, senior business executive with 15+ years of experience in media and advertising. He currently oversees the day-to-day operations of Kargo and is leading the next stage of the company’s growth. 

Prior to Kargo, Ryan held key management positions in sales, marketing and business development for some of the best known and fastest growing media and ad technology companies in the world, including Rolling Stone and In Touch Weekly, as well as start-ups VoodooVox and Vdopia.

For the last 7 years, Ryan has worked exclusively in the mobile marketing industry, leading change and stewarding strategy and sales growth in this exciting and fast-growing space. 

Doug Rohrer, Chief Strategy Officer

Doug Rohrer

Anything that has to do with revenue generation falls under Doug’s purview at Kargo. He joined the firm in 2013 and has been instrumental in growing revenues from $19 to $100 million and the staff from 50 to 150 during that time.

Over the course of his media career, Doug’s titles and roles have gotten bigger as the screens have gotten smaller. He was a Sales Director at Turner Broadcasting before joining Viacom as EVP of Sales for MTV, VH1, CMT and Comedy Central. In 2006, he went desktop, joining Heavy.com and then moving to SpinMedia Group. Now he’s all about mobile.

Doug is a native of two islands—Manhattan and Nantucket—and enjoys traveling with his wife, keeping up with his five kids and spinning with the Soul Cycle crowd.

Edward Romaine, Chief Marketing Officer

Edward Romaine is a proven sales and branded content lead executive with more than 13 years of experience overseeing the development and implementation of advertising solutions across digital, mobile, video, experiential and print platforms. A solutions-oriented leader who is most interested in moving business forward and in delivering a superior level of client service, Ed sets himself apart not only the through his curation of great agency and client-direct relationships but through core competencies including team building, ideation, monetization, detail-oriented sell through and execution as well as brand strategy.

Beginning his career in the music industry with posts at Warner Brothers and Sire Records, Ed has also optimized campaign performances for many Fortune 500 clients at Alloy Media+Marketing, Bauer Media Group and Hearst Media Corporation before serving the last five years at Conde Nast, overseeing Integrated Marketing and Sales Development at both W and GQ.

Owen Hanks, General Manager International

Owen comes to Kargo with 20+ years of entrepreneurial experience in media. He’s founded and led companies, acquired them and taken them public, and had one— just one—fail (it’s a story best told over drinks).

As media has evolved at light speed, Owen’s been right there with it, moving from print to TV to pioneering digital and mobile executive roles across companies including the BBC, BSkyB, Open, Rhythm New Media and YuMe.

Owen loves to share his experiences and mentor next-generation media superstars. He speaks regularly at industry events and is often sought out for insights by the media.

When he’s not traveling on business, Owen lives in the Cotswolds with his wife, twin daughters, two dogs and 150 (or so) sheep. Somehow, he also finds time to participate in triathlons.

Kartal Goksel, Chief Technology Officer

Kartal Goksel

Kartal is an engineer and entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in the advertising technology sector. At Kargo, he leads a fast-growing team in spearheading new product development and expanding our platform capabilities.

Prior to joining Kargo, Kartal was a VP of Engineering at PubMatic, where he led teams in designing and developing top-tier programmatic products. He also spent 10 years with CBS Interactive, where as Director of Software Engineering he built and managed systems serving half-a-billion ads a day. In his native Turkey, Kartal co-founded and built from the ground up two e-commerce sites, including the country’s first online sports store.

Kartal earned computer science degrees from Graceland University and NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and 22-pound cat, and follows Istanbul’s oldest soccer team, Beşiktaş.
