Solutions Engineer, Tech Operations

Who We Are:

Technical Operations team sits within the Global Operations team. Focused on publisher integrations, technical solutions & troubleshooting for direct & programmatic campaigns, as well as acting as support for Product & Engineering across the business teams. We are the singular point of escalation, supporting all Kargo products & technologies.

The Position:

The Solutions Engineer sits within the Technical Operations team, and will focus most of their expertise within the programmatic landscape (SSP & DSP). This role will be responsible for bringing our technology to life each day, establishing and supporting new customer deployments, expansion projects, and internal initiatives.  As the hub of configuration design and customer interaction, this position is also tasked with developing and sharing best practices across Kargo and providing technical support to internal operational & sales teams, as well as deep understanding of adtech. This role sits between operations & product/engineering, and will be require technical expertise in Publisher integrations, header bidding, adserving and troubleshooting.

Help our clients understand, use, and troubleshoot Kargo’s suite of ad products and platform modules

Conduct trainings and attend in-person question and answer sessions for Publisher, Ad Ops, Sales, Client Services, Project Mgmt and Product Teams

Participate and share best practices across Kargo, as the technical frontline

Act as an escalation point to diffuse operational roadblocks that the team may be facing by internal or external pressures by managing the people, process and tools used to support our tech

Assist with various documentation needs, customer support systems and process – all geared at aiding client adoption and better use of Kargo’s products, as well as internal understanding 

Provide additional testing & QA support for Kargo product releases: SSP, DSPs, Measurement & Header Bidding

Help to define product improvements and train internal teams 

Technical lead on publisher integrations, integrating publishers for header bidding

Support DSP integrations with Kargo; troubleshoot and document

Deep understanding of programmatic workflow, as the role will require deep troubleshooting skills around creative issues

The solutions engineer will be an important member of the team, and has to work both collaboratively and independently within tech ops, as well as across the organization.

The role will reqire strong communication skills, and expected to articulate technical issues to non-technical people.   

The Requirements

Minimum 3 years experience within an ad technology company, deep understanding of adserving & troubleshooting

Strong troubleshooting knowledge with HTML, JS, CSS, familiarity with JSON

Knowledge of Doubleclick for Publishers (DFP), or similar adserving platforms a plus, as well as Celtra

W experience with 3rd party measurement vendors like IAS, Doubleverify, MOAT, etc.

Experience in AdTech, Ability to learn new tools

Prior experience in working with DSP's and exchanges like DBM, TTD, Index, Mediamath 

High Proficiency in using web debugging tools; and ability to adapt to mobile debugging

Functional Experience in data analysis.

Familiarity with VAST/VPAID

Excellent verbal & written skills

Establish and own systems to gather and translate customer feedback and business needs into actionable analytics including key customer experience metrics e.g. NPS

Partner with Marketing Leadership to optimize and quantify marketing outreach efforts to drive ROI

Build and activate tailored models, reports, and other solutions for business partners, focused on driving better decisioning around revenue, costs, clients, products, and key health metrics

Software Engineer

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of Kargo’s ad tech innovations. You’ll be working directly with the CTO to build and role out new products and ideas to put the art back in advertising. You’ll become a key member of a close group of engineers, working on cutting edge products using open source technologies. On a typical day in this role, you'll touch on everything from the client side javascript to initiate an auction on the mobile web, to working on microservices in Go to execute billions of millisecond auctions, to data pipelines for capturing necessary events for analytics and revenue reporting..  



Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience).

Excellent problem solving skills. You should be able to operate independently with little direction.

2+ years of experience programming in an object oriented programming language such as Python, Java, C++ (Go preferred!).

Experience in building RESTful and stateless backend services and corresponding APIs.

Experience with creating build automation scripts (bash, makefiles… etc).

Experience with working with RDBMS’s such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.

Experience with client and server side Javascript (Node.js, ES6).

Familiarity with ETL pipelines, preferably working in an ELT setting.


Bonus Points:

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Go is a huge plus!

Experience creating RPC services with frameworks such as gRPC.

Experience with open source tracing frameworks such as opentracing.

Software Engineer In Test

Summary of Job’s Purpose:

As a Software Engineer in Test, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the quality of our proprietary software prior to delivery to the user and/or partners. This position involves close interaction with product managers, engineers, project managers, and the QA team.

The Position:

Ensure the quality of business-critical software that is both external and internal facing.

Work with Product Managers, QA leads, Engineers and Project Managers throughout the SDLC to promote quality products.

Attend sprint planning, execution, and retrospectives

Analyze, document, and submit issues discovered during testing

Verify and close issues resolved during the release cycle

Analyze project specifications, software requirements specifications, and software prototypes

Execute test plans, test cases, defects and status reporting

Write detailed test cases and defects

Work with the engineering team to build automated testing systems

The Requirements:

B.S or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics (or equivalent work experience)

2 plus years of QA testing experience

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with technical teams
